VisionHub operates as a server within the
work-cell that responds to client requests made by a robot or cell controller. VisionHub
can be configured to communicate directly with the most common types of robots. Supported
robot manufacturers include:
- ABB S4 Series
- Fanuc RJ3 or RJ3i Model B
- Kawasaki
- Nachi
- KUKA
- Other
VisionHub supports the industry standard DeviceNet interface and will be supporting
Ethernet/IP in the near future. The use of these industry standard open interfaces on top
of Ethernet allows VisionHub to transparently support a variety of cell control
architectures. These include host centric architectures where all communication is
directed to the cell controller as well as distributed architectures where location
information is directed to the robot controller without using the cell controller as an
intermediary. It is also possible to simultaneously broadcast location information to the
robot controller and status information to the cell controller which reduces redundant
communication while keeping the cell status current. Cell controllers can be a PLC, PC,
robot controller or any device supporting Ethernet and DeviceNet.
VisionHub also supports discrete I/O for control and status information. VisionHub
actions and requests for data can be initiated through traditional control logic in this
manner.
